Adam Levine: ''The Voice' will never be as profound as 'American Idol''

Maroon 5 superstar Adam Levine has revealed that 'The Voice' has a long way to go if it's ever going to be as popular as 'American Idol' or as powerful.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, the 'Payphone' heartthrob admitted that changes definitely need to be made for it to be an important show: "The Voice is very successful, but it's got a ways to go if it wants to have as profound an impact as 'Idol'. I'm not going to lie to you: I think there are problems."

As previously reported, Levine added: "Millions watch the show every week and fall in love with a singer, then you don't hear much from them. We haven't had a breakout success like Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. [The show is] very successful, but it's got a ways to go."

Maroon 5, meanwhile, recently announced that they will be releasing a brand new studio album called 'V' on September 2.
