Channel 4 Escapes to the Wild with a new series

Following the success of the first series, Channel 4 today announces that Escape to the Wild (3 x 60) will be back for a second run, fronted by Jimmy Doherty. The series is being produced by Optomen Television.

The series will see Jimmy travelling the world to uncover the incredible stories of ordinary British families who have abandoned the rat race and chosen to set up homes for themselves in some of the most remote places on earth.

Jimmy will question whether exchanging the stresses of modern living for a simpler existence has made these intrepid Brits any happier, and whether we can learn anything from their experience.

Each episode follows Jimmy as he lives and works alongside a different family in a wildly different environment. From the gold rush Yukon territory of Northern Canada, to the jungle interior of a remote Indonesian island, to the banks of the River Nile in Uganda.

In the series Jimmy will face harsh challenges, experience first-hand what daily life is really like in these remote places, and challenge our preconceptions about life outside our overcrowded cities.

Escape to the Wild has been commissioned by Ian Dunkley, Commissioning Editor, Factual Entertainment and Nick Hornby and Nick Shearman will be Executive Producers, with Helen Simpson as Series Producer for Optomen Television.
