Cher Lloyd doesn't like being called a popstar

Cher Lloyd first came to our attention last year as the rebellious teenager on X Factor but since then, her debut single, 'Swagger Jagger', reached the number one spot and her next single, 'With Ur Love', is on course to reaching the top spot this weekend.

However, the fiesty singer doesn't like being called a popstar.

In an interview with Lauren Murphy from the Irish Times, Lloyd reveals her discomfort with that title:

“I just don’t like the whole being called a ‘pop star’ thing...I’m just me, innit? I’m just an 18-year-old girl from Malvern. I still do all the crazy things I used to do, so I’m just the same. I’d just say that people know me for my music”

Whether or not she likes being called a popstar, she adds that she will be in the music industry for quite some time:

“D’you know what? X Factor is the best thing I ever did, because not only did it make people aware of me, but I opened the door. I slammed it open. I kicked it open. I didn’t arrive quietly, and I’ll never be quiet. At the end of the day, who’s gonna kill ya? No one’s gonna kill ya...So do what you want, innit? Have a laugh”.

Her debut album, 'Sticks and Stones', is released on Monday (November 7).
