Ella Henderson racing towards debut No.1 album

Ella Henderson is on course to bag a UK No.1 album this weekend.

The X Factor 2012 finalist released her first record 'Chapter One' on Monday (October 15) and it is storming the UK midweek chart update.

The Official Charts Company confirmed today (October 13) that it is outselling its nearest rival - Jessie J's new entry 'Sweet Talker' - by more than two to one.

At No.3 on the update meanwhile is Ed Sheeran's monolithic 'x', whilst U2's 'Songs of Innocence' - which debuted last month via a free iTunes giveaway - is a new entry at No.4.

Completing the top five on the midweek update is last week's No.1, George Ezra's 'Wanted On Voyage'.

Ella Henderson meanwhile was boosted this week when she was praised by Pharrell Williams.

The US icon told BBC Radio 1 on Monday (October 13):

"I get blindsided by records, I just look up late at night if I leave the TV on in a different country and I'm like 'oooh what is that? Ella Henderson? OK!' The song 'Glow'...

"It's so good I just wanted to play it again - and she has another record called 'Ghost' that I have to listen to too. One of my buddies Ryan Tedder wrote [it]. Listen, her voice... she's...you're special, Ella wherever you are...you're special."
