Ella Henderson's debut album goes straight to No. 1

Ella Henderson has debuted at the top of the UK albums chart with her premiere LP ‘Chapter One’.

‘Chapter One’ outsold its nearest competitor by 16,000 copies to secure the No. 1 spot. Ella’s album is the second fastest-selling female debut chart-topper of 2014 after ‘X Factor’ winner Sam Bailey’s ‘Power Of Love’.

The rest of the top five sees Ed Sheeran, a non-mover, at No. 2 with ‘X’, Sam Smith is another non-mover at No. 3 with ‘In The Lonely Hour’, last week’s chart-topper from George Ezra, ‘Wanted On Voyage’ is down to No. 4, and at No. 5 is a new entry from Jessie J with her third album ‘Sweet Talker’.

Further new entries to this week’s album chart come from U2 at No. 6 with ‘Songs Of Innocence’, Spandau Ballet’s ‘The Story – The Very Best Of’ at No. 8, Jessie Ware’s ‘Tough Love’ at No. 9, You+Me (aka Pink and City and Colour) at No. 10 with their ‘Rose Ave’ collaboration, Jonathan Antoine at No. 13 with ‘Tenore’, ‘Memoirs of a Madman’ by Ozzy Osbourne at No. 23, and Si Cranstoun at No. 30 with ‘Modern Life’.
