One Direction to become first act in history to play three shows at California's Rose Bowl

One Direction will become the first music act to play three concerts on the same run at California's Rose Bowl venue later this year.

The group initially announced two dates at the massive stadium in September as part of their Where We Are world tour.

However, they recently added three more gigs to their schedule and one of them was another Rose Bowl date.

This means that they are the first act in history to play three shows on the same tour at the stadium.

The Bowl's CEO and General Manager Darryl Dunn commented: "It’s really amazing. If you think about the history of the Rose Bowl that this is the first band ever the play three nights in our stadium in the 90 plus years of this place. It will be a lot of excitement in all of Pasadena for the One Direction days in September."

Live Nation's Executive Vice President of Booking in SoCal & Las Vegas Rich Best added: "This is truly historic. No artist has played three nights at Rose Bowl Stadium before. That speaks to One Direction’s tremendous impact right now. It also reinforces the Rose Bowl’s status as a go-to venue for major shows. Concerts on this scale call for the infrastructure and expertise that the Rose Bowl is known for in the live-event industry.”
