Louis Tomlinson's takeover of Doncaster Rovers 'to be confirmed today'

Louis Tomlinson's reported takeover of Doncaster Rovers could be set to go through today (June 6).

The One Direction singer is a big fan of the club and he has previously turned out of their reserves side to raise money for charity.

It was reported recently that Tomlinson was hoping to buy the club and Rovers confirmed that they had been in talks with 'external parties' about a takeover.

The Yorkshire Post now reports that Tomlinson's takeover is expected to be announced a press conference at Wembley Stadium - where One Direction are due to play - at 6pm today.

BBC Radio Sheffield have also reported that the deal is "virtually agreed".

The takeover would see Tomlinson act as a co-chairman in a silent partner capacity, with former chairman John Ryan assuming full-time responsibility.

Doncaster Rovers are currently in English football's League One after being relegated from the Championship last season.
