One Direction star Liam Payne has responded after his weight was called into question.

The band are currently on tour in North America after taking a break from their Where We Are world jaunt, but it seems the singer has been suffering at the hands of cyber trolls.

Payne took to Instagram to respond to the critics, firstly posting an image of himself wearing something under his t-shirt to make it look like he was fat.

The Brit then said alongside a picture of his BMI results: "Now just because I'm sick of seeing this everyday so I just want to clear up what the media do to people these days.

"Is it wrong to be normal? Or do I have to look like an Olympic swimmer just to get your approval into the cool kids or can I accept that the person I truly love thinks I'm the coolest kid in town anyway? Think I'll vote the second one ;) enjoy your day people."
