One Direction star Niall Horan has been pictured in the recording studio.

The band's last album came in the shape of 2013's 'Midnight Memories' and their next is scheduled to land before Christmas.

Producer Julian Bulian took to Instagram today (August 14) to post an image of Horan in a recording studio booth.

He is seen putting his thumbs up in front of the microphone.

Speaking this week on America's the Today Show, the Irishman said that their new record will be "edgy".

He said: "Think it's going to be a little bit more edgy. But obviously we feel like we've got some really good songs and we are happy."
