One Direction added to Guinness Book of World Records 2015

One Direction are set to feature in the new Guinness Book of World Records.

The band will be included in the 2015 edition of the legendary book as a result of their chart performance in the US.

They have a world record for being the first band to debut at No.1 in the States with their first three albums.

'Up All Night' and 'Take Me Home' achieved the feat in 2012, whilst 'Midnight Memories' hit No.1 in 2013.

Niall Horan commented: "This really is one of our proudest moments, both for us and our incredible fans. Whenever we talk about it we always say how cool it is that we did it first, how sick is that?!"

Other new record holders include Katy Perry for having the most amount of Twitter followers and Miley Cyrus for being the most searched-for pop star on the internet.

Rockers Metallica meanwhile will feature in the book for being the first act to perform in all seven continents of the world.

The US group did so in 2013, culminating with a special show in Antarctica in December.

The Guinness Book of World Records 2015 will be released in the UK on September 11.
