One Direction have bagged an MTV EMA nomination.

The awards ceremony is due to be hosted on November 9 at Glasgow's Hydro.

The nominees for the Best UK And Ireland Act have now been announced, with One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Calvin Harris and Sam Smith set to vie for the prize.

However, a fifth nominee will soon be announced and fans can vote for who they think should be nominated.

Arctic Monkeys, The Vamps, Coldplay, Rita Ora, Clean Bandit and Cheryl are all in contention.

Fans have to tweet '#Nominate' and the name of the act by September 14, with the winner then announced two days later.
