An Irish bookmaker has stopped taking bets on Niall Horan being the next member to leave One Direction after a large amount of money was placed on the singer quitting.

BoyleSports have suspended betting on the future of the group after €500 was placed on Horan leaving the band by a punter in the star's home region of Co Westmeath.

They had already cut odds on Horan following Zayn Malik out of One Direction from 8/1 to 3/1.

A spokesman said: "Our traders had to suspend betting at 11:30am on Monday morning after another large bet was placed on Niall in his native county to be the next member to leave One Direction.

"If Niall is the next member to leave One Direction; One Thing for sure is that we are in for a battering of a five figure amount from cagey punters across the Midlands.

"One Way or Another, the sell by date on One Direction looks set to expire sooner rather than later judging by the support for Niall to leave over the past few days."

Malik left One Direction in March to escape the boyband limelight.
