One Direction's Zayn Malik on bandmates: "We've made four best friends"

One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik has opened up on his relationship with his bandmates, claiming that they are all "best friends".

The Metro quotes Malik as saying that the quintet have become great mates after they were pieced together by the X Factor judges in 2010.

Since their inception the band have enjoyed chart success, a BRIT Award and popularity in the US too - and Malik feels that the lads are doing what they love every day. He said:

"I think obviously for me, I think the other guys would say the same thing, since we got put together we've made four best friends. We live together, we're on the road doing what we love every day so for us that's the most amazing part."

He continued: "I guess the only downside to it is we don't get to see our friends and family as much as we'd like to but other than that we're just enjoying everything that life's throwing at us at the minute."

One Direction are currently out in the US as they look to create a buzz Stateside - but it's not going all swimmingly, it seems. The boys got a slap on the wrist after some over enthusiastic bowling accidently trashed a bowling alley after a gig in New York.
