One Direction's Louis Tomlinson turned 21 today (December 24), but has admitted that he hasn't made any huge plans as he finds organising parties to be exhausting.

The singer explained to MTV News that he hasn't bothered planning an extravagant bash because he would prefer enjoying the day in a more low-key way, but understands that the 21st birthday is always expected to be more of a blow-out:

"It's quite a stress organising a party. I kinda just want to have a chill-out one, but for your 21st, you have to go all out, so I don't know."

When his bandmate Niall Horan suggested they party hard, Tomlinson joked: "Niall, we will just have a party, me and you. DVD night, plenty of popcorn."

Horan sent birthday wishes to his friend earlier this afternoon and tweeted: "Massive HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one of my best friends @Louis_Tomlinson 21 today! Have a great time buddie and I will see you in the new year!"

Tomlinson, meanwhile, appears to be enjoying his day and has shared a photo of one of his presents with his Twitter followers, adding: "IT'S MY BIRTHDAYYYYY AHHHHH. Ahhhhh I'm old!!!!!
