One Direction star Zayn Malik has shown his appreciation towards his fans following his birthday.

The singer celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday (January 12), with his bandmates tweeting him messages of goodwill.

It wasn't just his music comrades that wished him happy birthday, with his legions of fans also joining in the festivities.

Tweeting in the early hours (January 13), Malik thanked the Directioners who sent him messages, tweeting:

"Just signing in quickly to say thankyou for all the birthday messages, even though technically it's not my Bday now aha :) x."

One Direction meanwhile have recently starred in a new advert for Nick Grimshaw's BBC Radio 1 show, showing off some dodgy dance moves.
