One Direction heartthrob Niall Horan took to his social media accounts earlier this morning (August 25) to tell his fans that he met one of his musical idols last night.

Writing on Instagram to accompany the photo (seen left), the 'Best Song Ever' superstar explained that he went to watch the fantastic John Mayer live in concert and was blown away after he walked over to him and handed him a signed guitar:

"Met the best guitarist of our generation last night, unbelievable musician, great guy! After gravity he walked over handed me this, legend! One of those moments."

Horan also took to his official Twitter page the same evening and told his followers that he was being bombarded by phone calls from girls in his hotel room:

"Hi, girls who are calling my room, I love you lots, I get what you're doing! It's all fun! Can It wait, I'm sleeping after long day! Thanks. That reads like I'm complaining! I'm not! Sorry!"
