One Direction have released a new promotional video ahead of an album announcement today.

The video, which was revealed on Twitter by Zayn Malik, sees Harry Styles arranging a series of letters.

It appears to show the phrase 'Midnight Memories', which is speculated to be their new album title.

Malik tweeted: "What is @harry_styles up to? :)."

The band will release details of their forthcoming record at 4pm UK time today (September 6) and it seems the video is linked to the announcement.

The album is expected to be unleashed before Christmas and it looks set to showcase a rockier, edgier sound.
