British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has been awarded a prize at tonight's BRIT Awards ceremony, which is currently underway in London at the O2 Arena. 

Kim Kardashian West took the stage to present the Global Success Award, which was created to recognise international sales figures, and the star was named as the lucky recipient. 

This is his second BRIT Award as he won the Critics' Choice prize last year, and it was announced that Smith has now sold over 1 million records in the USA. During his acceptance speech, the 'Stay With Me' superstar explained that he is overwhelmed by the success he has enjoyed and he's very grateful for the award:

"Oh my gosh... Hello! Thank you so much. Since I was a little kid I dreamed of people all over the world singing my songs. While I've got a long way to go, this shows that I'm stepping in the right direction. Thank you."
