Sam Smith has revealed when he will return to touring.

The singer has spent a number of weeks out of action after having an operation to cure a vocal cord hemorrhage.

He was forced into cancelling a series of live shows and was unable to speak for over a fortnight.

However, Smith today (June 9) posted a video of himself on Twitter updating fans on his progress.

The Brit confirmed that he will return to touring on July 3, which is a gig at Thetford Forest in England.

Smith said: "As you can see, I can speak again for the first time in three weeks. It’s been horrible, and sitting in silence and knowing I should be doing shows has killed me.

"But finally, I have some good news. And it's that I should be starting all my shows from July 3 and it’s all as planned.

"I’m going to try my absolute best to sing my heart out every night, but please bear with me as always."
