Barbra Streisand's Passion

Barbra Streisand's first ever book 'My Passion for Design' hit the shelves this week.

The legend, more famous for singing and acting, has unveiled the coffee table book in which she recounts stories from her life and career that influenced the choices she made in designing her dream home in Malibu, California.

Streisand said: "People have been asking me to write my autobiography, but I don't want to go there yet and be that personal. I guess it crept into my own writing."

Published by Viking, the book describes the long journey Streisand made from planning, building and furnishing the compound that resembles a 19th century New England farm with barn, mill house, main house, Grandma's house and a chicken run and her "Bee's Doll Shop" which houses her doll collection, and the Antique Clothes Shop, which shows off her vintage clothing.

Streisand has recently launched a £6 million ($10 million) fund-raising effort benefiting the Women's Heart Centre at the Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in Los Angeles.
