Biffy Clyro: 'We're not metal enough to headline Download, but you never know'

'Bubbles' rockers Biffy Clyro have opened up about the genre of music they're known for and confessed that they often wonder if they're heavy enough to headline a festival like Download.

Avenged Sevenfold were confirmed earlier today (November 4) as the 2014 Download headlining act, but Biffy Clyro explained that they're unsure if they'll ever achieve that feat because they can't tell if they're the right kind of band. Ben Johnston explained:

"We haven't headlined Download, we're maybe not metal enough to headline Download. We did headline Sonisphere though and that's definitely a metal festival so fair enough I take that back."

Drummer James added: "I think metal and heavy rock fans are pretty open minded, they've gotten into a style of music that inherently isn't popular. People who're into loud rock music don't really want [their music] to perhaps be uber-popular, maybe that's not the entire goal."

"I think people who go to those festivals are very open minded and just because they've got tattoos and long hair doesn't mean they don't like the tender moments in music as well."
