Kevin McHale says One Direction became 'too big' to appear on Glee

Kevin McHale has admitted that One Direction became "too big" to feature on Glee.

It had previously been rumoured that the British-Irish boyband could make a cameo on the popular US TV show in person.

However, no collaboration has happened and actor Kevin McHale, who plays Artie Abrams on Glee, told The Sun that whilst the show wanted the lads on the programme, their fame became a problem.

He said: "We wanted them on the show badly and I thought it might happen at one time. But then they just became too big, too busy."

Rumours of One Direction appearing on Glee intensified earlier this year when Matthew Morrison suggested that the band could feature as students.

He said: "To have One Direction on would be great for the show.

"They are not much older than high school age so we could have them as students."
