Justin Bieber charged with assault and dangerous driving

Justin Bieber has been arrested and charged with assault and dangerous driving.

The incidents reportedly happened on Friday (August 29) in the singer's home town of Stratford, Ontario.

Police say that his ATV collided with a mini-van, with Bieber then allegedly involved in a fight with the other car's driver.

They said on Tuesday (September 2): "One of the occupants of the van and the operator of the ATV had words. There was an altercation that took place and as a result of that we ended up arresting Justin Bieber for the offences that were committed."

The 20-year-old was reportedly being chased by photographers and the singer's lawyer added:

"Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's peaceful retreat in Stratford this weekend was unfortunately disrupted by the unwelcome presence of paparazzi. This has regrettably resulted in charges of dangerous driving and assault."

The laywer for the alleged victim of assault commented:

"My clients will have no other comment at this time. All evidence has been provided to the Canadian authorities. This is a serious matter that could have an impact on Mr. Bieber's probation status in California."

The singer is currently on probation in Los Angeles for a vandalism conviction that resulted from the musician egging his neighbour in January.

Bieber meanwhile will answer the assault and dangerous driving charges at a hearing in Stratford, Ontario on September 29.
