Lady Gaga says fashion stops her going 'insane'

Lady Gaga has revealed that dressing up and being creative helps her cope with her "insanity".

The singer is well known for wearing extravagant costumes in public, with her 2010 meat dress a notorious member of her wardrobe.

Speaking on Graham Norton's BBC chat show, the 'Venus' star admitted that she might very well go off the rails if she isn't allowed to express her creativity through fashion.

Gaga said: "It's how I deal with my insanity. From when I was young I had voices in my head and for the longest time I was drinking and doing a lot of drugs and it was the clothing and the artistry that saved me. I get sheer joy out of creativity, it's like a psychedelic experience for me."

Speaking meanwhile about the hip injury which forced the singer to cancel a number of tour dates earlier this year, the 'Born This Way' maestro said:

"I broke my hip and who dances on a broken hip for three months and doesn't know? The thing is when you are on a tour for that long everything hurts and it's not a possibility to me to cancel. I can't say no and I can't stop. I felt dead not performing."

Gaga's Graham Norton episode will air in the UK on Friday (November 8), with the US star set to perform her new single 'Do What U Want'.

The song features on the singer's upcoming album 'ARTPOP', which will hit shelves on November 11.
