Lady Gaga on sexuality: 'My earlier experiences with sex were quite perverted'

Pop sensation Lady Gaga has opened up about sexuality in music and revealed that she thinks there's a very flat representation of it at the moment.

Speaking to the BBC about how the industry currently deals with sex, the 'Applause' superstar confessed that it's very 'one-dimensional' and is usually just there to titillate:

"I would say that in pop music, in that particular sphere, there's a one-dimensional quality to sexuality. There's an intention always behind the sexuality, if the sexuality is there. Most of the time, I don't consider myself to be very sexy actually. In the beginning of my career, some of this exploration of covering myself up and transforming into other icons and other life forces was a sense of sexual freedom for this as I felt quite numbed by my experiences."

When asked about her own portrayal of sexuality on her new album, 'ARTPOP', the songstress admitted that she didn't write about it with any specific intention past the act itself, but she now has a great sex life and feels far more confident, which she thinks is reflected in her music:

"I don't create with the intention of the finale... I don't always know what's going to come out it. My earlier experiences with sex were quite perverted and scary; terrifying. Fear. Now I have really great sex, but it's just sort of a natural change."
