Jake Bugg blasts X Factor: "It’s about popularity and not music"

Jake Bugg has criticised programmes like the X Factor for focusing too much on "popularity".

The young singer-songwriter has never been one to shy away from lamenting TV talent shows and their output following a number of brushes in the past with One Direction.

And he's not going to stop anytime soon, it seems. He told the Sunday People that the X Factor has its priorities wrong by putting music second best.

Bugg said: "It’s sick. It’s about popularity and not music. That kind of fame, literally overnight can’t be good for anyone."

Speaking about his own fame, the Brit added: "I’d like to keep going as long as the Rolling Stones but not in Mick Jagger’s leggings. That is not for me."

Bugg meanwhile released his second album 'Shangri La' last year and it reached No.3 in the UK.
