Cliff Richard fans campaign to get singer to No.1 after sex abuse allegation

Cliff Richard fans have launched a campaign to see the singer reach No.1 in the UK.

The veteran's house was searched recently as part of an investigation into a historical sexual abuse claim.

Police confirmed that the allegation involves a boy who was aged under 16 at the time in the 1980s in the South Yorkshire area.

Richard has maintained his innocence and now fans have rallied behind him in an effort to propel him to No.1.

They are attempting to put his 1992 song 'I Still Believe In You' to the top of the UK charts to show their support for Richard.

The Cliff Richard Radio Facebook page posted: "Let's fight back for Cliff. To show our support for Sir Cliff, we are trying to get him to the number one spot or as close as possible in next week's chart. To do so we have agreed to download the song 'I Still Believe In You' between Monday 18th August and Friday 22nd August."
