Noel Gallagher: 'I laughed off proposal of Oasis 'rags to riches' musical'

Musician Noel Gallagher has revealed that he was once approached by someone who wanted to turn the Oasis story into a musical, but he quickly shut the idea down.

Speaking to XFM, the star admitted he laughed at the proposal because it was something he would never have agreed to:

"Somebody did talk to me once about doing a musical, he was an American dude. After I'd stopped laughing I realised that he'd walked off! He was like, 'The rags to riches story of Oasis'."

He added: "After I'd belly-laughed and spewed up my drink, I realised he wasn't there anymore. I don't think it'll be happening any time soon."

Gallagher, meanwhile, recently slammed the UK Top 40 singles and albums chart and told the NME that coveted positions mean nothing any more because most contemporary music is so forgettable:

"If you're number one in the charts now, it automatically means you must be s**t. Bands now go cap-in-hand to the industry and the industry has already decided what it wants for the f**king chart stars. But the charts are all the f**king same. Every single song in the Top 10 is the same s**t with a different voice."
