Bob Dylan achieves his eighth No. 1 UK album

Bob Dylan has topped the UK album chart with his 36th studio album, ‘Shadows In The Night’.

Dylan’s seven other chart topping albums are ‘The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan’ (1963), ‘Bringing It All Back Home’ (1965), ‘John Wesley Harding’ (1967), ‘Nashville Skyline’ (1969), ‘Self-Portrait’ (1970), ‘New Morning’ (1970), and ‘Together Through Life’ (2009).

‘Shadows In The Night’ sees the ‘Blowin’ In The Wind’ musician covering a collection of pop standards made famous by Frank Sinatra, such as ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’ and ‘Full Moon And Empty Arms’.

Last night (February 7) saw Bob Dylan being named MusiCares Person of the Year where he was honoured with tribute performances from Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Beck, and he gave a 30 minute speech about his career.

Making up the rest of this week’s Top Five is Ed Sheeran’s ‘X’, a non-mover at No. 2, Meghan Trainor’s ‘Title’, last week’s chart topper, down two to No. 3, Sam Smith’s ‘In The Lonely Hour’, another non-mover at No. 4, and ‘Hozier’ up one to No. 5.

Other than Bob Dylan, there are three further new entries to this week’s Top 40 album chart. ‘Kid Ink’ is new in at No. 10 with ‘Full Speed’, Indiana makes her album chart debut at No. 17 with ‘No Romeo’, and Diana Krall’s ‘Wallflower’ sits at No. 19.
