Charli XCX insists she 'doesn't hate One Direction'

Charli XCX has stated that she has nothing against One Direction.

The British singer was recently quoted as saying that she wasn't keen on the pop group or their label boss Simon Cowell.

However, she told Shazam Top 20 that her words were taken out of context.

The 'Doing It' star said: "I was talking about Simon Cowell and how much I am a fan of him and his empire and I said I would love to be in his position but I would probably make different music. I didn’t name anyone!

"I am really into One Direction, my dad got me a 1D cake for my birthday. This is people taking my comments out of context. I don’t hate One Direction at all. That’s not what I said."

Speaking meanwhile about One Direction's touring buddies 5 Seconds of Summer, Charli XCX added:

"I have heard about those guys, they’re all very cute but probably a little too young for me."
