Joel Madden says writing new music with 5 Seconds of Summer has been a career high.

The Australian group are currently working on the follow-up to their 2014 self-titled debut album.

They have enlisted a slew of musicians to co-write tunes with, including Sum 41 star Deryck Whibley and Simple Plan.

Joel Madden and his brother Benji have also been drafted in and the former revealed on Twitter today (February 20) that he is truly loving the experience.

The US musician wrote: "Working on this @5SOS record has been one of the best experiences of my life."

The new 5 Seconds of Summer album is expected to land later this year.
