Patricia Arquette champions wage equality during 'Boyhood' Oscars acceptance speech

The 2015 Academy Awards is currently taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and superstar Patricia Arquette picked up the prize for Best Supporting Actress for her incredible role in Richard Linklater's 'Boyhood'.

Arquette, who won a Golden Globe for the same role earlier this year, used her acceptance speech time to promote wage equality and equal rights for women, telling the auditorium:

"To every woman who gave birth, to every citizen and taxpayer, it's our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America!"

Speaking to reporters on the red carpet earlier this evening (February 22), Arquette revealed that she is proud of the legacy 'Boyhood' has created: "So many kids have said to me that they called their mom and apologised because I don’t look exactly like their mom and I didn’t speak exactly like their mom, they had enough distance to actually kind of see their mom in a different light.”

'Ida' won the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar, the Best Makeup and Hairstyling trophy was collected by 'The Grand Budapest Hotel', and Best Sound Editing was won by 'American Sniper'.
