Markus Feehily: '1D's label want them to keep going until they drop'

Markus Feehily thinks One Direction's record label would rather the group not take a break.

The former X Factor stars are due to go on hiatus in 2016 after the release of fifth album 'Made In The A.M.'.

Westlife man Feehily told Yahoo that Sony - the same label as One Direction - didn't want the Irish band to similarly take time out in 2009.

He thinks that the record label aren't wanting the 'Drag Me Down' stars to go on a break - despite the move being the best for the singers.

Feehily said: "We worked with the exact same record company and I can imagine they probably want One Direction to keep going and going until they drop, but I think it’s definitely better they do things their way because the people in the band are the only ones who know when enough is enough.

"Westlife took a break and everyone, mostly the record company and everybody around Simon [Cowell], said ‘If you do this you know your fans won’t be there when you come back, you have to be careful’.

"That break bought us another four or five years in Westlife so it was the best thing we could have done, because if we didn’t take that break in 2009 we would have only lasted about another year and it bought us another four."

Westlife eventually split in 2012, with Feehily now going solo.
