Arsenio Hall has launched legal action to the tune of $5m (£3.46m) against Sinead O'Connor after she suggested the TV host supplied drugs to Prince.

The music star died aged 57 in April at his Paisley Park complex in Minnesota, but no cause of death has yet been revealed.

Painkillers were found near his body and police have obtained a warrant to search the property.

Irish singer O'Connor recently took to Facebook to suggest that Hall had been supplying drugs to Prince for decades.

She also alleged that Hall spiked her "years ago at Eddie Murphy's house".

In legal papers filed on Thursday (May 5), the TV man accused O'Connor of damaging his reputation.

He called her claims "despicable, fabricated lies".
