The Stone Roses to unveil new single later today

It has been announced that the Stone Roses will return with a brand new single tonight (May 12) at 8pm.

The iconic band shared the exciting news via a post on Twitter this morning (see screenshot below), but no further information has been confirmed as of yet.

Noel Gallagher, meanwhile, recently told the NME that Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown explained that the band feels like their new material has as much energy as their debut:

"I am very excited, for them mainly. They're going to play some new songs. I bumped into Ian in a supermarket recently. He was buying chocolate flavoured shower gel. This is not a joke. He leant and said 'have you tried this?' and I said of course I hadn't. He swears by it, says it's amazing. And before it turned into a photoshoot with everyone and their cameraphones, he was telling me how excited they are by it all. He said it was like they were making their first record again."

The Stone Roses have the following 2016 live commitments scheduled:

Tokyo, Nippon Budokhan (June 2, 3)
Manchester, Etihad Stadium (June 15, 17, 18, 19)
New York, Madison Square Garden (June 30)
T In The Park (July 8)
Dublin, Marlay Park (July 9)
