Gotye returns to top of singles chart

Gotye ‘s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ has become the first song to return to the top of the UK singles chart in 2012.

The Belgian-Australian’s duet with New Zealand chanteuse Kimbra was knocked off the top spot by DJ Fresh’s 'Hot Right Now' last week, but held onto an early midweek lead to reclaim pole position for a second week.

Emeli Sande's 'Next To Me' had to make do with second place for a second week, and was followed by DJ Fresh, and two appearances from Sia, first on Flo Rida's 'Wild Ones' and then David Guetta's 'Titanium.'

Elsewhere, Nicki Minaj continued her prolific streak, appearing on both her own hit, 'Starships,' (No.7) and David Guetta collaboration, 'Turn Me On' (No.8) while Gym Class Heroes scored a fifth UK Top 10 hit with 'Ass Back Home' (No.9).

There were also new entries inside the Top 40 for Coldplay’s 'Charlie Brown' (No.30), Jason Derulo’s 'Breathing' (No.35), Jay-Z & Kanye West’s 'Paris' (No.37) and Nadia Ali’s 'Rapture' (No.40).
