Harry Hill plans X Factor musical for autumn 2013

Harry Hill has revealed plans to unleash an X Factor musical next year.

The comedian, who hosted popular tongue-in-cheek series TV Burp, told the Telegraph that he came up with the idea whilst watching last year's X Factor final when he was somewhat squiffy.

He said that he decided to press ahead with the musical after X Factor supremo Simon Cowell approved the idea. Hill said:

"I was watching the last X Factor final, drunk, and thought it was a good idea. [Simon Cowell] liked it, so we're doing it. It's like a TV Burp treatment...to get the lovers and haters in. It's not caustic, like Jerry Springer: The Opera. That would be quite an easy route to take, but we want it to be funny above everything."

Harry Hill will work on the musical with co-writer and composer Steve Brown, who helped pen music for TV Burp.
