Chad Kroeger of rock band Nickelback expressed his distaste at his fiancée's ex-husband's choice of Halloween costume by posting a public tweet that was laced with sarcasm.

'How You Remind Me' singer Kroeger and Avril Lavigne announced their surprise engagement earlier this summer, but Lavigne's ex-husband, Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, used their romance as inspiration for his costume and made a mockery of the couple.

Whibley donned a blonde wig streaked with bright colours and wore heavy eye make-up to attend the Saturday night bash as ex-wife Lavigne, while his girlfriend Ari Cooper showed off a long, curly hairpiece and fake beard to impersonate the Nickelback frontman's look.

Upon seeing photos of their outfits, Kroger tweeted: "Hey Deryck loved the costumes! we were going to dress up as you guys this year but all the parties had celebrity themes haha! -CK"
