Psy "didn't seem to know" who Coldplay frontman Chris Martin was when the star asked for a photo.

The 'Gangnam Style' hitmaker was at the Met Ball on Monday when Martin and his Hollywood star wife Gwyneth Paltrow spotted him.

The pair posed with Psy for a picture, but according to Paltrow the star didn't have a clue who her husband was.

According to the Daily Mail, the actress explained: "Our son is obsessed with Psy so we went up and Chris was like 'Hello I'm from the band Coldplay.' But Psy didn't seem to know who he was.

She continued: 'So we said: 'We're sorry to bother you but can we have a picture for our children?' and he was happy to do it. He then put it all together and was really happy to meet Chris."

Paltrow wasn't too enamoured with the prestigious fashion event this year.

She recently said: "I’m never going again. It was so un-fun. It was boiling. It was too crowded. I did not enjoy it at all."
