Avicii stays at No. 1 in UK singles chart for third week running

Swedish DJ and producer Avicii has retained his position at the top of the UK singles chart.

‘Wake Me Up’ – which features vocals by Aloe Blacc – is now spending its third week in a row at No. 1.

The rest of this week’s top five is made up by One Direction as ‘Best Song Ever’ falls three places to No. 5, Lana Del Rey vs Cedric Gervais with ‘Summertime Sadness’ is up a massive 28 places to No. 4, Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ is a non-mover at No. 3 and John Newman’s former No. 1 ‘Love Me Again’ is up two to No. 2.

Elsewhere in the top ten Calvin Harris made chart history with his track ‘Thinking About You’ featuring Ayah Marar as it rose five places to No. 9. This gives the Scottish DJ a new record for being the first artist to have nine top ten singles all taken from the same album.

New entries to this week’s chart come from Eliza Doolittle with ‘Big When I Was Little’ straight in at No. 12 and AlunaGeorge with ‘You Know You Like It’ at No. 39.

Climbers in the chart this week include Kanye West’s ‘Black Skinhead’ up five to No. 37, Disclosure’s ‘F For You’ up 21 to No. 28, Rudimental’s ‘Right Here’ featuring Foxes up a sizeable 39 places to No. 24, and Jay Z and Justin Timberlake’s ‘Holy Grail’ has risen six positions to reach No. 11.
