CLARE TEAL the “New Queen Of Swing”  2013 tour unveiled

Yorkshire’s most successful Jazz singer and Radio 2 presenter Clare Teal returns to the road again this August with a string of dates showcasing her incredible versatility and talent to entertain. This is no regular tour, but features performances as a duo, with a big band, with her full band and, as we head into December, Clare begins her infamous and eagerly awaited “Festive Fiesta!” this year, highlighting tracks from her soon to be released Christmas Album.

Clare shot to fame after her second album “Orsino’s Songs” was featured heavily on Michael Parkinson’s Radio 2 show during 2002. This lead to a third album and her first appearance on Parky’s TV show where she stole the show singing “Teach Me Tonight”. More TV and Radio followed making Clare a household name amongst jazz fans, magazine covers, articles and a high profile transport sponsorship by Chrysler made sure Clare was never out of the spotlight. This brought her to the attention of Sony Records who signed her in 2004 in one of the biggest recording contracts for a UK female jazz singer. Her song writing skills were also recognised with a major contract with Chrysalis publishing who placed several of her songs in TV and Films including the hit UK comedy “Confetti”.

With her first Sony album “Don’t Talk” Clare topped the UK Jazz Charts for weeks and even hit the top 20 on the national album chart. Success followed success and more albums and awards followed. British Jazz Singer of the Year, Best Female Vocalist, Yorkshire Young Achiever’s Arts Award and BBC Vocalist of the Year are just a few of her accolades.

2008 lead to a change of Label with Clare signing to W14, part of the giant Universal Record Label. Another hit album “Get Happy” secured her position as the most successful UK female jazz singer.

Clare has since developed her career as a presenter on BBC Radio 2, following two popular series of “After Seven with Clare Teal” the BBC took her on as a regular presenter. In 2011 she presented 115 shows for Radio 2!

She has travelled the world performing on tour and for individuals who have booked her for private events and has albums available in places as far flung as New Zealand and Japan, to Skipton in Yorkshire and the Philippines but with all of this and more behind her, Clare still loves the thrill of live performance and is a regular feature on the jazz and theatre stage.
