Morrissey brands the royal family "benefit scroungers"

Iconic British singer-songwriter Morrissey has labelled the royal family "benefit scroungers" ahead of the much-talked about wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton that's due to take place on Friday, April 29.

The 'Glamorous Glue' musician was talking during an interview with BBC's Radio 5 Live this morning, April 27, and when asked about the forthcoming nuptials, he exclaimed that he can't take it seriously and definitely won't be tuning in:

"Why would I watch the wedding? Why would I watch it? I couldn't take any of that seriously."

"I don't think the so-called royal family speak for England now and I don't think England needs them. I do seriously believe that they are benefit scroungers and nothing else. I don't believe they serve any purpose whatsoever."

Check out a recent interview with Radio 4, in which he talks about the Americanization of Britain and his views on the royal family, here:
