Morrissey rushed to hospital with pneumonia in both lungs

Iconic singer Morrissey was forced to pull out of a scheduled concert over the weekend after he was rushed to hospital with 'double pneumonia'.

The 53-year-old star was due to perform in San Francisco at the Regency Ballroom on Saturday, March 9, but had to cancel after he was confirmed to be suffering with the condition in both lungs, which can be potentially fatal.

He's been plagued with ill-health recently and has already had trouble with a bleeding ulcer and Barrett's esophagus, and while this new turn is serious he hopes to be fighting fit in time for a live set at the Vive Latino Festival in Mexico later this week.

A statement on a Morrissey fan site explains: "Morrissey is presently being treated in San Francisco for 'double pneumonia', but remains on course to headline the Vive Latino Festival in Mexico City on March 14.
'Morrissey's show at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco will now take place on May 1."
