Olly Murs wishes The Wanted and One Direction luck at MTV VMAs

Olly Murs has wished fellow UK based pop acts The Wanted and One Direction luck ahead of the MTV VMAs.

The awards ceremony takes place tonight (September 6) and both groups will go up against each other in the Best New Artist category.

Xtra Factor host Murs told Capital FM that it has been a great year for the two bands, who have both made a splash in the US. He said:

"It's incredible for The Wanted and One Direction to be over there at the VMAs. I mean what an incredible year they've both had as boy groups."

The 'Oh My Goodness' star added: "You know they've got great fan bases across the world, they've both done really well so good luck guys – I wish you all the best. Have a great night and enjoy yourselves."

Murs supported One Direction in America earlier this year when the quintet embarked on their first ever headline tour of the country.
