Paramore admit that writer's block helped shape new album

Rockers Paramore have admitted that although they struggled with writer's block while making their self-titled new record, it was more of a help than a setback.

The trio are set to release the record in the UK on April 8 and they explained to MTV News that unusual musical interludes fill gaps that were initially caused by lack of inspiration so finding it difficult to write was a blessing this time around. Guitarist Taylor York said:

"We had writer's block pretty badly one time, and these interludes just happened. They're really different... [they've got] ukulele, [they're] really just weird for us, but it felt like we had to write those to continue writing the record. So I feel like they tell some sort of story; they're more like mini songs than interludes."

Frontwoman Hayley Williams added that they learned a lot about themselves while working on the project and it was enjoyable from start to finish:

"It really taught us a lot about ourselves as a band, and that was so fun. It felt like the same feeling I got when we were kids, playing in Taylor's basement or Jeremy's living room. Every morning I would wake up and we'd go into the studio, and it was like, 'I don't know anything; I'm just going in and we're going to make music'."
