Taylor Swift: 'I've never had short hair before, so that inspired the themes on my new album'

Songstress Taylor Swift has revealed that her hair is a big 'theme' on her forthcoming new record.

During a new interview with photographer Mario Testino for Vogue, the 'Shake It Off' sensation admitted that she has been bold with changing her look over the past few years, and thinks that altering her hairstyle has impacted how people see her: "The first time that we did a cover for Vogue... that was the day that I cut bangs. I'd never had bangs before and it ended up completely changing the way I looked for the next two years."

When asked if there's a particular style that influenced her new album, entitled '1989', Swift confessed that the change that came with chopping off her long girlish locks was a big inspiration:

"Well, I cut my hair. So, I've never had short hair before - that's a big theme in the album. Playing around with more 80s and 90s inspired styles, and mixing them with classic, has been the style for the new record [...] As human beings we want to fantasise about the future and the past."

Earlier today (October 6), Swift was announced as this Thursday's BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session guest and the station shared a tweet confirming the exciting news: "We can now reveal that @taylorswift13 will be in the Live Lounge for us on Thursday! Are you excited?"
