Alicia Keys: "Super Bowl national anthem will be special"

International songstress Alicia Keys can't wait to perform America's national anthem "[her] way" at the 2013 Super Bowl next month.

It was announced yesterday (January 18) that the 'Girl On Fire' superstar will lend her voice to the NFL championship game on February 3 in New Orleans by treating the live crowd and viewers at home to a rendition of 'The Star Spangled Banner'.

Speaking to MTV News, Keys gushed about the honour: "Oh my goodness, I'm crazy excited about it. Being able to do the national anthem and actually set the whole game off is a dream come true. It's really exciting.

She added: "It's a historical moment, that day, so I'm looking forward to really doing it my style and my way, and I'm looking forward to really making it great."

The announcement that Keys will be performing at the hotly-anticipated sporting event follows the confirmation that Beyoncé Knowles will take to the stage for the Super Bowl's coveted halftime show.
