Josh Savage Releases New Single 'Citizen Of The World'OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASENEWS PROVIDED BY Authority Communications “Fantastic song writing and a resonant, rich voice, Josh exhibits real skill as a musician and singer." - Huffington Post ‘Ten Artists to Watch’ "Absolutely stunning" - BBC Introducing
Today (May 31st) sees the release of his new single ‘Citizen Of The World’. Josh was initially surprised, then astounded, then angry, then very angry, and then creative when the referendum results were announced in 2016. He then sat down and wrote ‘Citizen Of The World’. “Why would you close doors rather than open them?” he thought. He then moved to Berlin to breathe creative fresh air and get away from the madness. 'Citizen of the World', a reference to Theresa May's infamous 'citizens of nowhere' speech, is a tranquil anthem for the millions and millions of young people watching in horror as their future - a future promised, paid for and essential - is pulled to pieces before their eyes. Josh grew up learning piano, trumpet and guitar at home and went on to complete his Music Degree at University of York. His heroes include Amber Run, Coldplay, Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Bombay Bicycle Club, Daughter and Foals. Previous self-released singles have found love at BBC Radio 2, BBC Introducing and BBC 6 music and accumulated over 2.5 million plays on Spotify. His 'Spaces' EP hit #28 while 'Whisper In The Snow' made the top 20 in the iTunes singer/songwriter charts and was aired on Dermot O'Leary's BBC Radio 2 show by Jo Whiley. Josh has now played over 600 shows on 5 continents supporting, amongst others, Tokio Myers, Jack Savoretti, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, John Hiatt, Razorlight, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Ward Thomas. He holds the record for the most ever Sofar Sounds gigs played worldwide. Listen to ‘Citizen Of The World’ here:
