Pippa Bennett-Warner plays Livia Fulton

Who is Livia and does she really have the picture-perfect life she portrays on Instagram?

Liv is the sort of person that you'd want on your team. And when I say team, I mean, in your friendship group. She is first and foremost a mother and a wife, and she runs her own PR and events company. She’s fierce and loyal and funny and protective, she has quite high morals and high standards. She's a cool customer, but I wouldn't want to cross her. I think she's just one of those lucky girls that seems to kind of have it all: she's managing to juggle a business, a marriage, children, friendship groups - and she is absolutely the mother hen of her friendship group.

She’s an aspirational person. I never feel that she's reaching for anything, or even that she's been handed everything on a plate. She's operating on that frequency of having everything, but in a really lovely, unostentatious way.

Identity is a big theme throughout the series. How does Livia work through finding hers?

Livia is confident; she knows who she is. However, throughout the course of the series, and after Chloe’s death, I feel like she gets rattled and starts to ask herself more questions than she would have previously. This moment in her life is a big one and she questions her identity and what her friendships mean to her, and what her life means to her.

Do you think Livia feels guilty for what happened to Chloe, or like she should have been there for her?

I do think Livia feels guilty about what happened to Chloe and not being there. I think it's something that has caused her sleepless nights. In one scene she is challenged on it, and she just shuts it down. I think emotionally she has her guard up a lot of the time. I don't think she likes to emote massively. I think she does feel like she let her friend down and let herself down because I think she holds herself in quite high esteem. She puts a lot into her friendships, and she expects a lot back; in hindsight she knows she wasn’t there when Chloe needed her and that's something I don't think she'll ever really get past.

Do you think that Becky/Sasha and Livia are similar people, and that’s why they get on so well?

Good question. I don’t know if they are. Liv is very open, and I think she is super aware of the fact that she isn't great at holding onto female relationships. When she meets Sasha they click, they just get on, but of course Sasha is presenting something to Liv that isn’t real - I don't think they're hugely similar. But I think the version of herself that Sasha presents to Livia is easy for Livia to get on with. I think Livia has struggled with female relationships, but this feels easy because Sasha's offering something up which isn't threatening or complicated, and Livia likes the straightforwardness.
