The award for Short Film (Animated) went to The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse, based on Charlie Mackesy’s internationally best-selling illustrated children's book reimagined in full colour with hand-drawn traditional animation. The film was commissioned by BBC’s Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore and captivated BBC audiences at Christmas. BBC Storyville’s Navalny - Daniel Roher’s thrilling and timely film about Russia's opposition leader, Alexei Navalny - took home the Documentary Feature Film award. Fellow Documentary nominee A House Made of Splinters was also backed by Storyville, the BBC's international feature documentary strand. Charlotte Moore, BBC’s Chief Content Officer says: “Massive congratulations to the two BBC-backed Oscar winners, we’re so proud to have played a part in these extraordinary films and demonstrate our commitment to bringing world class storytelling to audiences.
